Age Groups Determine What Cars Top The Best Hybrid List

This independent study collected poll data and customer feedback on 2010 Best Hybrid Cars. This research does not represent any official numbers by any automaker and the data used is only from one Web site and geo-location. We found that there are two distinctive age groups that favor top hybrid cars differently.

35 to 45 Age Group

This age group included 62 percent men and 38 percent women. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid was favored in this age group by 42 percent. The 2010 Toyota Prius arrived in second place with 31 percent, and the 2010 Honda Insight came in third place totaling 27 percent.

25 to 35 Age Group

What's interesting is that the younger generation prefers the Toyota Prius by a whopping 56 percent. The Honda Insight came in second place with 31 percent. The Ford Fusion totaled only 13 percent.

The Best Hybrid Cars

Since the data changes radically between the two age groups, we can only say that all three hybrid cars are the best. In other words, each of the vehicles seem to cater to a different group. Perhaps there is a reason behind this due to marketing campaigns.

The new Toyota Prius commercials were probably created to attract all ages. However, if it is the TV spots, perhaps they are attracting the younger generation. Again, we are only basing this on our own data, and that's not very much considering all the other questionnaires that are on the Web.

If you think about it, you probably see younger drivers in a Toyota or Honda than a Ford. It would be interesting to find out how close our independent study is in comparison to the automakers and the Web. We prompted our online users to participate in the survey from May 1, 2010 through July 4, 2010.

According to a few other polls we studied, it seems as if the Prius is the leading hybrid. One popularity poll showed the vehicle as being the most favorite among buyers in Japan and the United States. There are several polls on the Web for "Best Hybrid Cars", but we found our survey interesting because of the age groups.
