Articles - Honda Insight Includes Remarkable Price

The 2010 Honda Insight is one of the most popular hybrids on the road today. The Honda Insight was introduced in 1999 with two seats. It was a three door hatchback and Honda labeled it as a mild hybrid.

It is also interesting to note that the Honda hybrid was the first gasoline electric car sold in the United States. However, consumers didn't favor its original exterior style, which reminded them of a sci-fi movie. Honda does deserve credit for the Insight uniqueness.

From 1999 to 2006, the Insight relied on Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system. The IMA system helped the electric motor to run start and stop sequences with the gas engine during certain driving conditions. This system also kept the hybrid battery charged by turning the engine into a generator.

The Honda Hybrid still uses the IMA system, but it went through a few upgrades that are found in the latest model. The Insight can achieve 40 mpg in the city and 43 miles per gallon on the highway. The combined mileage is 41 miles per gallon.

The 2010 Insight also has a great price of just $19,000, depending on what options you buy with the hybrid. For example, if you add Honda's Navigation System and other options, the price could reach $22,000. Even so, this is still a remarkable price for a new green car.

Several people have asked what the difference is between the Honda hybrid and the Toyota Prius. Well, the two cars have their own niche in this market and do cater to different clientele. There are definitely two sets of fans for each automaker.

There are several reviews, polls, and Insight vs Prius arguments on the Web. I wouldn't read into them too much, although some of them do offer valuable information. However, you should shop and do your own research on what hybrid car to purchase.

Honda Insight Hybrid Buying Tips

When you go to the Honda dealer, make sure you review exactly what you want. In most cases, the salesperson is doing to direct you to the highest priced 2010 Insight on the lot. They do this to tease you with the interior and additional options.

If your budget means $19,000, then shop for a new Insight hybrid with no added accessories or navigation system. You can add these options later if you want. You don't need to buy the whole bundle that day.

Make sure you ask about the warranty on the Honda Insight. The warranty should cover the car, hybrid battery, and hybrid components. A typical warranty on a new hybrid car is between 8 to 10 years.
