Once you have decided to purchase a 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid, you still have to choose which one you want. As if choosing, which make and model is not hard enough. When purchasing the Toyota Prius you have four options: II, III, IV or V. Of course, you can’t go wrong because they are all are equipped with a 1.8L 4-Cylinder Hybrid.
The differences with the Toyota exterior features are the II, III, IV all come with projector-beam halogen headlamps with the auto-off feature. The V model comes with the LED (light-emitting diode) headlamps with auto leveling, auto-off and headlamp washers. The II, III, IV all come with 15-in. 5-spoke alloy wheels with P195/65R15 tires and wheel covers. In addition, the V comes with 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels with P215/45R17 tires.
Next, the II and III Prius models do not come with driver and front passenger water-repellent side windows as the IV and V models do. The power tilt/slide moon roof with the solar powered ventilation system and remote air conditioning system is only available as an option package for the III and IV models.
The 2010 Prius comes with CFC-free automatic climate control with electric compressor, dust and pollen filtration mode, humidity sensor and air filter. The Toyota hybrid is also equipped with an auxiliary audio jack, power windows with auto up/down, jam protection in all positions, retained-power features, and power automatic door locks with an anti-lockout feature. The Toyota Smart Key System is on the driver’s door and the neat thing about it is the remote keyless entry system. It has a Push Button Start and 2-stage unlocking with panic function.
The Prius hybrid also comes with a plasma cluster Ionizer air purifier, leather-trimmed seats and steering wheel with driver seat power lumbar support. Another nice feature are the heated front seats with bottle holders in front doors and auto-dimming rearview mirror with Toyota HomeLink. Only the Prius II model comes with the AM/FM/MP3 CD player with six speakers and satellite radio capability. The other Toyota models come with with the JBL AM/FM/MP3 6-disc CD changer with eight speakers, integrated satellite radio capability and hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth wireless technology.
The Voice-activated touch-screen DVD navigation system with JBL AM/FM/MP3 4-disc CD changer, eight speakers, USB port with iPod connectivity, integrated satellite radio capability, XM NavTraffic capability, hands-free phone capability and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology, and integrated backup camera is not available in the II model. However, it is available in the other models.
The II and III models come with the fabric-trimmed seats and door panels with storage pockets and bottle holders in front doors. While the IV and V models come with the leather-trimmed seats and steering wheel with driver seat power lumbar support and heated front seats with bottle holders in front doors.
There are not too many differences in safety features between the models. The II model comes standard with Safety Connect. With the III model, Safety Connect was not offered. However, it does come with the IV and V models as an option. The Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA), does not come standard with any of the models, and they are only available on the V model. The 2010 Toyota Prius is priced as follows: II $22,000; III $23,000; IV $25,800, and the V for $27,270.
