The mpg rating on the Toyota Camry Hybrid is one of the best on the market. The Toyota standard features include a push button start system, Smart Entry keyless locking, power door locks, dual-zone automatic climate controls, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel (with audio controls), trip computer, a universal garage door opener, High Solar Energy-Absorbing (HSEA) glass, and a cool air conditioner that relies only on the electric motor. The vehicle provides a spacious trunk and cargo area.

The Toyota Camry battery pack is stored in the trunk, reducing the amount of cargo space available by approximately five cubic feet, in comparison to its conventional gasoline counterpart. Optional features include a voice activated navigation system, leather upholstery and a sun roof. Standard safety features include stability and traction control, driver and front-passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and side curtain airbags.

Toyota Camry Hybrid Engine

The Toyota Camry is powered by a 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT-i-4-cylinder gasoline engine. It can deliver 147 horsepower and has 138 lb.-ft. torque. The Camry meets the Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV) classification.

Our Camry test drive found that the combination of the gas and electric motor felt surprisingly robust. The acceleration seems much better than most four-cylinder vehicles and within the same limits of a six-cylinder. The Toyota automobile can go from 0-60 mph in just 8.3 seconds.

The Toyota hybrid comes with a specially tuned suspension and a lower center of gravity for enhanced handling at speed. We were very satisfied with the suspension during our road test. The Camry handled well around corners and had plenty of pick-up speed.

The headlamps are multi-reflector halogen with auto on/off features. The Camry features an acoustic noise-reducing front windshield which is one of the newer technologies unveiled in this automobile. The glass is High Solar Energy-Absorbing (HSEA) which comes standard.

MPG Rating

Gas mileage for this Toyota car is excellent for a vehicle of this size. The Toyota Camry delivers 33 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. You can squeeze out more mileage depending on how you drive the automobile.

It is possible to achieve a higher EPA rating on the Camry. This involves driving practices including slow acceleration and costing to stops instead of braking. It also depends on road conditions as these techniques don’t always warrant.

Since the Camry includes several aerodynamic technologies, drivers should always close the windows when cruising on the highway.

For example, slower and smoother acceleration can add about 5 to 10 mpg. Another technique to use is slower braking and coasting to stops. Fast acceleration and immediate braking will consume more fuel.

Base MSRP

The Base MSRP for the vehicle is $25,500. Again, this isn’t a bad price for a car this size. Furthermore, it comes with several standard features that are often optional in other fuel efficient cars.
