Barack HusseinObama beats his rival Hillary Clinton in the Mississippi Democratic primary contest winning almost 61 percent of the ballot. The Mississippi outcome boosted Barack Obama's lead over Hillary Clinton in terms of delegates at the August convention where the Democratic party will choose its White House candidate. Obama won nearly 90 percent of the black vote in the Mississippi primary, but only about one-quarter of the white vote. As Mississippi Democrats voted Tuesday, both Obama and Hillary Clinton were already campaigning in Pennsylvania. The next contest will be in Pennsylvania on April 22 when 158 nominating convention delegates will be at stake. However, with only 10 contests remaining for eight states which offer fewer than 600 delegates, it is all but impossible for Clinton to beat Obama in elected delegates. Neither Obama nor Clinton will be able to win enough delegates through primaries and caucuses to win the Dmocratic nomination. The Illinois senator has 1,596 delegates to 1,484 for Clinton. It takes 2,025 to win the nomination at the party's national convention this summer in Denver. Filed Under: Barack Obama News Current Business NewsShare Article Link:
