Quran burning canceled amid controversy. The Florida Minister who created an international furor over burning the Quran has backed down. There’s no indication on why Rev. Terry Jones changed his mind, but we do know it had nothing to do with a Mosque move in NYC.
Burning the Quran has prompted international outcry, including President Obama. The plan was to burn the Muslim Holy Book on the ninth anniversy of the 9/11 attacks. Jones stated that he would cancel the event if the Mosque in New York City was moved.
However, the Mosque is staying, and it appears that Rev. Terry Jones was under intense pressure. There are conflicting reports that Jones had reached a deal with the Islamic Society of Central Florida. According to Imam Muhammad Musri, the president of the foundation, no deal was cut.
