The 8-inch iPad is only a rumor, but that doesn’t mean that Apple isn’t launching such a tablet, it just means there’s been no evidence that it even exists.
That’s the story we got now when searching for the 8-inch Apple iPad. If the rumors are true, then there’s a big reason why Amazon could be worried about its Kindle Fire.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that unnamed sources say Apple is working with Asian screen suppliers on making the new prototype and it wouldn’t be the first time that the WSJ was right.
“One person said the smaller device will have a similar resolution screen as the iPad 2,” the Journal said. “Apple is working with screen makers, including Taiwan-based AU Optronics Co. and LG Display Co. of South Korea to supply the test panels, the person said.”
The Journal also says that the source indicated that Apple, “could opt not to proceed with the device.”
Last week analyst Ezra Gottheil of Technology Business Research, predicted that Apple would release a 7 inch iPad by the end of the year, a rumor that had circulated for months before hand.
Nevertheless, experts were quick to shoot it down referring to the fact that Steve Jobs always thought that a 7-inch screen was much too small to express the software.
In addition, Jobs stated that a 9.7-inch screen was, “the minimum size required to create great tablet apps.”
Currently, Apple is expected to unveil the iPad 3 as early as March 7th with its normal 9.7-inch size.
