Google Twitter talks about a new possible acquisition or partnership is buzzing on the Internet. Facebook wanted to buy the growing website but couldn't come to an agreement.

Google Inc just might be in the market to buy Twitter Inc after talks stalled with Facebook Inc. Facebook wanted to buy the website in late 2008. Twitter posted an official announcement but came up short on admitting if there were any acquisition talks.

"It should come as no surprise that Twitter engages in discussions with other companies regularly and on a variety of subjects," Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said in a statement.

Twitter still hasn't addressed the rumors and the statement only fuels the topic even more. The company is either riding this out for free publicity, or there really is something going on behind closed doors. Google declined to comment.

Google and Twitter could partner to offer more services to attract Facebook users. This could all be done while building profitability.

The bottom line is, if Google has enough money to inspire Twitter, there will be an acquisition. After all, the economy is bust right now and nobody knows just how long the small service will be around if it runs out of fuel. Sooner or later, the buzz and the excitement over its services will need to grow or there will be another rival to pick it up.

Google recently established a new website designed for new research. The company wants to know the next "big thing" on the Internet. Twitter is very new, but is it the next big thing that Google wants?

The search engine company has canceled projects which came with a few layoffs in early January. Some of the projects were meant to explore new ideas and new innovations. This only proves that Google missed what Twitter has invented.

The talks about a merger are just speculation at this point. Why would Google, who has the largest Internet search audience in the world, need to buy Twitter in the first place? We all witnessed the downturn with Yahoo Inc after Microsoft Corp wanted to buy that company.
