Jaws Ride Is Closing At ‘Universal Studios’ In Orlando, Florida

Jaws Ride Closing Universal Orlando – The Jaws boat ride at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, will close on Jan. 2 to make way for a yet-to-be-announced attraction. The amusement originally opened in 1990. There have been no details on what attraction that will be replacing it.

Inspired by Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster by the same name, it was one of the original attractions for the park that opened nearly 22 years ago.

“‘Jaws’ has been an amazing attraction and an important part of our history. We know that ‘Jaws’ holds a special place in the hearts of our guests,” the Orlando Sentinel quoted Universal spokesman Tom Schroder as saying. “But we always have to look to the future and dedicate ourselves to providing new, innovative entertainment experiences for our guests.”

Schroder said the ride is being closed “to make room for what will be an exciting new attraction experience,” but he gave no hints about the new ride.

“We can’t wait to share details of our plans — in due time,” the Sentinel reported he said.
