CelebrityNetWorth.com has announced this week that super model Kathy Ireland is the richest model in the world.
Between 1984 and 1996 Ireland appeared in 13 consecutive issues of the Sports illustrated Swimsuit Edition gaining three covers.
Forbes says that now with the brand she has built over the years she has amassed an amazing fortune as the CEO of Kathy Ireland Worldwide.
She has made, “an astounding $2 billion worth of licensed products at retail, making her a bigger licensor than the formidable Martha Stewart,” Forbes says.
Starting by putting her name on a line of socks sold at K-Marts, which became a best seller for the retailer. So, they ended up giving her a clothing line. Afterwards, she started up her private company, which now also produces a line of furniture.
By 2005, KIWW products were sold at over 50,000 locations in 15 different countries, generating an estimated $1.4 billion in retail sales. Her annual income from the product line is thought to be around $10 million, which has prompted Forbes to name her the “prototype for model-turned-mogul,” in an article about the trend of model preneurs, such as Heidi Klum, Elle Macpherson, and Gisele Bundchen.
Ireland has also written six books over the last few years, 3 of which were children’s books.
