McDonald’s Soda Fountain Thief Faces 5 Years For Theft

A Florida man is facing 5 years in prison for an incident at a local McDonald’s involving soda theft after being denied a free cup of water. An employee gave him the cup of water but warned him that he was not allowed to get soda from the self-serve machines since he did not pay for it. Mark Abaire, 53, was caught sneaking out of the fast-food restaurant with the beverage, said to be worth $1.

The employee informed a manager and Abaire was asked to leave.

However, this is where the trouble started because he refused to leave and was yelling profanities at the manager.

The restaurant called police.

Abaire, who ironically goes by aliases of Red Clown, was arrested and charged with felony petty theft, because of prior convictions on his record, as well as misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly intoxication.

Aside from the possible 5 year prison sentence, Abaire could also be hit with a $5,000 fine.

He is currently being held on a $6,500 bond in the Collier County jail.
