Top retirement activities for retirees and ideas. Baby Boomers want to do more activities when they enter retirement, so we list some of the top activites. Retirement at any age could be boring if the retiree runs out of activities, so get out your pen and write down the top listings.
Retirement can be fun for Baby Boomers are looking for leisure with their relaxation, according to a Cost of Leisure Index compiled by Allstate. The Cost of Leisure Index is part of the Allstate Financial Retirement Reality Check survey. It rates Baby Boomers’ most desired activties as a retiree and the amount they intend to spend on them.
Activities that are fun is what Baby Boomers want. The survey found that the majority of these retirees believe the best of their years is still to come. Eighty-two percent of surveyed Baby Boomers believe that their retirement will be more fun and rewarding than their parents. In addition, 65 percent believe their retirement will be more active.
“Baby Boomers are looking forward to an active retirement, full of the leisure pursuits that they currently enjoy today,” stated Tom Wilson, president of Allstate Financial, a business unit of The Allstate Corporation. “In fact, while in many instances surveyed Baby Boomers were accurate in estimating the costs for their favorite activities, they are still not saving enough money to actually enjoy what they told us they want to do during retirement,” added Wilson.
The Allstate Financial Cost of Leisure Index found that the top activities were traveling, family activities, hobbies, gardening, fishing, golfing, volunteering, reading, exercising and home improvements. Making a cost of leisure index is a great way to ensure that you will be able to afford to do the things you want to do when you retire.
