Video conferencing from Cisco is a high-definition TelePresense service. The service is packaged with built-in microphone, video screens and camera lenses for $299 to $899 per hour. Cisco hopes to open 100 additional video conference rooms by the end of 2009.

Cisco Systems Inc has partnered with Tata Communications Ltd to offer public video conferencing rooms. The network security company aims to broaden the use of a technology service that helps executives cut back on travel expenses.

Until recently, the discreet Cisco TelePresence high-definition service was only available to business customers. The business technology company is now offering its public video conferencing rooms to the public.

The service offers a built-in microphone, high-definition video screens and camera lens for $299 to $899 per hour. The price also depends on the size of the room. For instance, larger rooms that can accommodate up to 18 people are priced around $34,000 to $300,000 each.

Cisco TelePresense will be available in several major cities including Boston, London and Santa Clara. Tata will offer the service in some Taj Hotels in India.

The two companies will provide more than 100 new rooms by the end of 2009.
