Actress Afshan Azad Attacked

Afshan Azad plays Padma Patil in the Harry Potter movies.

Afshan Azad, best known as Padma Patil in the Harry Potter movies, was attacked. The amazing thing is that Afshan Azad was assaulted and threatened by her own family members. Afshan Azad's father and brother even threatened to kill the British actress.

Azad's father, Abdul Azad and brother, Ashraf allegedly threatened to kill her. Additionally, Ashraf was charged with assaulting his sister. He claims that he is in fear because he's going to "get harassed at college" and believes his sister's career will be tainted by the incident (if that makes any sense at all).

The father and brother attacked her because of her relationship with a Hindu man. Both men were in court on June 29, 2010, they were released on bail. The 22-year-old actress is apparently staying with her friends in London.

The case has been adjourned until July 12. They are expected to plead not guilty. The family is of Bangladeshi descent. However, both parents were born in the United Kingdom.

Afshan Azad was cast as Padma Patil after attending an audition at her high school. Since then she has appeared in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince," and she will be appearing in the upcoming "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
