Amber Riley, the actress that portrays Mercedes Jones on FOX’s Glee, fainted and collapsed during a red carpet appearance on Tuesday at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood.
The 25-year-old actress was in the middle of giving interviews on the red carpet when apparently all the flashing light bulbs caused her to become sick and pass out.
But after the scare all seems to be o.k., as Riley tweeted to her fans afterwards to let them know what happened and how she was doing.
“I got a little dizzy from all the photo flashes! You’d think I’s be used to it by now, still a red carpet amateur I guess,” she wrote. “Gonna get checked out but I feel fine. Thank you for all the concern and well wishes.”
She also thanked all the photographers at the event for something that me be hard to believe. “I’d also like to thank the photographers for being do professional and not taking photos of me on the ground,” she tweeted. “I truly truly appreciate it. Could have been super embarrassing.”
Prior to her role on ‘Glee’, Riley had auditioned unsuccessfully for the part of Effie White in ‘Dreamgirls’ in 2006, the role that ended up going to Jennifer Hudson.
