American Idol ending will be a big surprise for millions of FOX viewers. Latest reports suggest that the television show will be canceled by 2011. This means that season 10 could be its final.

Idol has been one of the most watched talent shows of all time. However, the show took a turn for the worse when Simon Cowell announced he was leaving. Cowell was one of its cast judges and creators.

Ending the show also means that the X Factor, which Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul joined, will probably dominate in TV ratings. In other words, if both American Idol and the X Factor are on the same night, there’s a good chance people will switch to the X Factor.

The other thing to consider is all the other reality talent shows, including “Dancing With The Stars,” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Americans are burning out on these shows. In addition, there is a rumor that Ryan Seacrest himself wants to move on to other projects.

Reality Singing Television Series

It is very clear that the reality singing television series has made the dreams of dozens of singers. However, the show just isn’t the same without Cowell, and the behavior of Paula Abdul. Losing these two judges was the beginning of the end.

High Profile Judges

FOX executives have toyed with the idea of bringing in more high profile judges to help boost the ratings of the program. Past episodes have shown that guest judges can make or break the audience of an episode. Even so, the TV series isn’t going to be the same when Cowell departs.

Successful Careers

The show has made the singing careers of a number of artists, including Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood. Several other contestants of the show have gone on to take other jobs in Hollywood after their run on American Idol. The show is regarded as one of the most successful talent judging television shows that has ever existed.
