Bravo host Andy Cohen spoke about his new memoir, “Most Talkative,” at the St. Louis County Library, but the real star of the even was his mother Evelyn as she was greeted by cheers, applause, waves and photo flashes.
In fact, Andy’s entire family was there in the front row to hear his speak.
Evelyn had just spent a week as “guest bartender” on Andy’s live Bravo show, “Watch What Happens: Live!,” and clearly had developed her own fan following.
After the one-hour event, in which Andy was interviewed by McGraw Millhaven of KTRS (550 AM) and answered questions from the audience, Evelyn was deluged by people wanting her to autograph “Most Talkative.” While Andy signed books in a rigidly structured format in another room, Evelyn finally had to be rescued by library staff after she had signed dozens of books.
“When you’re on TV, it’s so crazy, everybody knows you,” she said in a chat afterward. “Can you believe this?” Also in her hard-to-believe category: She’s the cover girl (along with her son) on the current (May 13) Parade magazine and is featured in a long interview for Mother’s Day.
While some people waited more than two hours for Andy Cohen’s signature and “happy face” doodle on “Most Talkative” — and some endured horrible photos taken by Library staff, who didn’t allow patrons to snap their own photos — Evelyn and Lou Cohen slipped out the back door. “Tell Andy we went home,” she requested.
