AP Entertainer Of The Year award goes to none other than Lady Gaga. It was a close call for the entertainer because she beat the late Steve Jobs by only 3 votes. The AP voting was based on 135 ballots sent to U.S. news organizations that are part of the membership.
“She gets people talking,” Greg Retsinas, digital director of the Press Democrat of Santa Rosa, Calif. “She’s a polarizing figure not just in music and fashion but in pop culture and society. In a recent week, I heard her referenced personally by my 9-year-old daughter, a prominent local CFO and an airline pilot, all glowingly.”
According to Forbes last week, Lady Gaga was the top earning woman in music for 2011, making $90 million.
“I am humbled and honored to be named ‘Entertainer of The Year’ by The Associated Press,” Lady Gaga said in a statement Monday signed “Mother Monster.”
Others who received votes where Taylor Swift, Charlie Sheen, Adele and the cast of “Harry Potter.” Past winners of the award include Betty White, Tina Fey and Steven Colbert.
