Barbra Streisand’s dog, Samantha, bit a flight attendant Tuesday. The 73-year-old legendary singer was heading from New York City to Washington, DC, to lobby for funding for the Women’s Heart Alliance when the snafu occurred, according to Daily Mail.

“This never happened before and Barbra apologized profusely to the flight attendant,” Streisand’s rep said about the dog incident.

The unidentified flight attendant, who was working on Ron Perelman’s private jet, saw the 12-year-old Coton de Tulear and decided to pet it without showing her hand first — a non-invasive way to get acquainted with new animals.

Barbra Streisand’s dog bite was so severe, the stewardess required stitches, notes TMZ.

As any dog owner would be, Streisand was horrified by the incident.

Fans of Streisand know how deeply she cares for her four-legged companion. In fact, she often posts photos of Samantha on her Instagram.

Barbra Streisand’s dog appears to be ashamed too. The singer has been the voice for animal advocacy for many years, offering her version of the song “Smile” to the Humane Society of the United States for their “Kindred Spirits” memorial program that is dedicated to those who have experienced the loss of a pet, which she experienced with Sammy a male Bichon Frisé she owned before Samantha.
