Bradley Cooper Looks to Write Sci-Fi Film

Bradley Cooper Looks to Write Sci-Fi Film - With much success in his recent films Bradley Cooper is now looking to write a Sci-Fi film. This week he told Charlie Rose he was trying get a gig adapting Dan Simmons’ acclaimed science fiction series ‘The Hyperion Cantos’. Although he will have to discuss the writing with Graham King, producer of ‘The Departed’ because he currently owns the copy rights.

Bradley has this to say, “My friend and I, Conal Byrne, went to Graham King and we wrote a treatment on spec, saying, ‘Look, I know this is a very audacious endeavor, but can you just read this spec we wrote? We think we have a way in to tell the story. So we wrote it and now we’re negotiating to write the script for it.”

Ideally Cooper would like to direct the film, but knows it would be a big project to take on. Also with this being only his first screen writing he knows as well this would not be a good time to direct the whole thing. Besides it seems Mr. Cooper has had plenty of commotion surrounding him since the release of ‘The Hangover II’.

The Hyperion Cantos series was originally based from two books in which a group of individuals are on a mission to ‘The Time Tombs of Hyperion.’ The books also involve genetically alter humans that were developed to like deep in space. The plot of the novel is highly complex, featuring multiple time-lines and characters whose behavior changes dramatically, which would end in quite the task for Bradley Cooper.
