Kobe Bryant’s wife wore a Christmas dress that reportedly sells for $6,500 when she posed for the family’s annual holiday card. Vanessa rocked the stunning black sequined gown known as the Black Widow, according to The Spreadit. The dress was created by famous designer Michael Costello, and fans couldn’t get enough of it.

“The Bryant family went all out for this holiday card with no exceptions.”

If you’re wondering why the gown looks familiar, that’s because it’s the same Christmas dress Beyonce wore during her “Mrs. Carter” world tour. The Bryant family are pictured with daughters Natalie, 11, and Gianna, 8. Most fans think the gown looks better on Bryant than Beyonce.

Designer Michael Costello appeared on “Project Runway” and “Project Runway: All Stars” and has also designed dresses for stars including Ariana Grande and Khloe Kardashian. Beyonce is obviously a fan of the Christmas dress. She wore it at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

Kobe Bryant’s wife wore the Christmas dress for the holiday card and an dinner with the family, according to E Online. Kobe asked Vanessa to marry him in May 2000, after just 6 months of dating. The NBA player won three straight championships after he proposed.

Vanessa gave birth to the couple’s first daughter, Natalia Diamante Bryant, on January 19, 2021 in Los Angeles, weighing 6 lbs 14 oz. After Natalia was born, Kobe and his parents reconciled at Vanessa’s request. In April 2005, Vanessa suffered a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy. Their second daughter, Gianna Maria-Onor’e, was born May 1, 2006, and weight 6 lbs 7 oz.

The couple have had their problems. In 2003, Kobe was charged with raping a 19-year-old hotel worker in Eagle, Colorado. However, Bryant’s wife remained supportive of her husband and proclaimed his innocence. Eventually the charges against him were dropped.

“I know that my husband has made a mistake — the mistake of adultery. He and I will have to deal with that within our marriage, and we will do so.”

Soon after, and as a Christmas present, Kobe purchased a home for Vanessa’s mother, Sofia Urbieta just around the corner from them because he is so close to her mother.

Ever since Kobe Bryant’s wife wore the Christmas dress, many people have asked about the gown’s creator. He’s known as designer Michael Costello who is already ahead of the game at age 29. Since the age of four years old, Michael has been designing and creating.

When Costello was age 15, he opened his first boutique in Palm Springs and being self taught, was told he was qualified to attend FIDM. He was offered a teaching job on how to drape and sew naturally. He opted to take a one year internship with Bob Mackie.

After his year-long internship, Michael, then 16, took a job designing clothes for Clare’s collection, famous for their red carpet and pageant gowns. Michael felt right at home designing. He has been asked to do many charity fashion shows such as Pennies for homeless, with special guests Freddy Prince, Jr. and Sarah Michelle Geller, raising more then 250,000 for the event.

While Kobe Bryant’s wife wore his Christmas dress, Michael used his signature natural draping techniques to create the gown. Vanessa Bryant found out about the designer from a colleague when talking about gowns to wear for the holidays, notes ENSTARS. Costello is the owner of two couture boutiques in Palm Springs, CA and has already opened an East Coast office and showroom.
