Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks have received offers to star in the adaptation of the Jonathan Safran Foer novel "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close." The novel, published in 2005, is set in 2003 and narrated by 9-year-old Oskar Schell. Oskar is a precocious New York City kid whose father died in 9/11.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close starts off with Oskar who finds a key in an envelope on which someone has scrawled ‘Black.' Oskar sets out to visit, on foot, every Black in the New York City phone book. His mission is to find the lock that fits his father's key.

Tom Hanks will be teaming up with Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliott). Daldry directed Forrest Gump. However, Warner Bros. and Paramount have not given the green-light for the film. Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks have not entered formal negotiations for the movie.

Hanks and Bullock could really make this movie come alive. It has mystery, suspense, and the book itself is addicting. The actors have played similar parts before in other movies.
