Chili Peppers 2012 Tour – The Red Hot Chili Peppers is on tour in Europe to promote their latest “I’m With You” release and the 2012 dates have been announced. The U.S. schedule will start Jan. 25 in Charlotte, N.C. Only six U.S. dates have been released — the venues for which are all in the south.
Tickets for the six shows will go on sale Dec. 3. More dates at arenas and stadiums across the country will be added in the coming weeks.
This is the first tour for the band since the 2007 Stadium Arcadium tour. The band promptly entered a hiatus after the tour’s completion.
The I’m With You tour will send the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the U.K. and Europe as well as the U.S.
I’m With You is the band’s 10th studio release. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart back in August, and landed the top slot on the U.K. album chart. Critics had mixed reviews about the album.
L.A. Times music critic Randall Roberts said the album “[was] a mishmash, lacks a center and way too often feels duct-taped together from various points in the band’s career.”
Lead singer Anthony Kiedis spoke of the excitement that accompanied releasing the latest record.
“It’s very dynamic, so we really have to focus on letting each song exist unto itself with all its beauty. There’s a lot going on,” Kiedis told MTV. “We felt pretty good about everything that we had done in terms of writing and recording, but no one really knew [how the warm-up shows would turn out] and it was just as good as one could have ever dreamt of … It was like being 21 years old and not being able to sleep the night before a show.”
The band has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the last two years, having recorded dozens of hits and amassing a large international fan base.
