​Christian Bale Bails On Starring In Child 44 Film

Christian Bale has passed up the offer and bails on the opportunity to star in “Child 44,” directed by Daniel Espinosa through Scott Free Productions, but the reasons why the actor declined have not been determined.

The film is based on a thriller novel, with the same name, written by British writer Tom Rob Smith, thriller book of the same name written by British writer Tom Rob Smith. It involves the investigation of gruesome child murders that were committed under Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union. It follows the crimes of Ukrainian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo.

On Tuesday, Bale met with the film’s producers, according to The Wrap, and turned down the offer to star in the film. The actor, however, did not provide a public reason as to why he had rejected the role, though he does appear to have a loaded schedule.

In April Bale was considering taking on a role in “American Bulls—” with David O. Russell according to NMW, which would fill the actor’s schedule for the foreseeable future.

“If Bale takes on American Bulls— the chances of him returning to the Terminator franchise will recede further with his plate already full far into the future,” the site reported. “Up next for Bale is Out Of The Furnace and the two Terrence Malick films, Lawless and Knight of Cups, both of which will also feature Natalie Portman.”

In August, the actor was also in talks to star in “The Creed of Violence” directed by Academy Award nominated filmmaker Todd Field. The film had a hopeful start date of early 2013.

Bale met with the filmmakers Tuesday to declare his intentions with regards to the project.

Bale’s recent credits include “The Dark Knight Rises” and “The Fighter.”
