Christiane Amanpour Leaving ABC’s “This Week”

Christiane Amanpour This Week – Anchor of ABC’s Sunday morning politics show, “This Week,” Christiane Amanpour is leaving the show after just a year of being on the job.

Amanpour took over the anchor duties from George Stephanopoulus in August of last year. Now Stephanopoulus will retake the reins on January 8th after Amanpour departs.

Amanpour, meanwhile, will divide her time as a reporter for ABC and her former employer, CNN.

“This is an exciting and unique opportunity for me to take my love of storytelling to primetime at ABC News with multiple specials, as well as becoming a roving global affairs anchor across all ABC platforms,” Amanpour wrote in a statement supplied by ABC News.

Stephanopoulos will also continue to host “Good Morning America” during the week.

The Sunday morning talk show has aired on Sunday mornings on ABC since 1981; the program is initially aired at 9:00 AM ET, although many stations air the program later, especially those in other time zones.
