Clint Eastwood is teaming up with Justin Timberlake, Amy Adams and John Goodman in “The Trouble with the Curve” film, directed by someone else and produced by Robert Lorenz.
The film tells the story of an aging Atlanta Braves scout with increasingly poor eyesight who goes on a road trip with his adult daughter to investigate “green power hitter” Bo Gentry (played by newcomer Joe Massingill).
The film shows Eastwood getting close with his onscreen daughter (played by Adams) as well as having some male bonding time with Timberlake’s character.
Timberlake plays a rival scout named Johnny who has a friendly history with Eastwood’s character Gus, the man who scouted him when he was a baseball player.
“[Gus] gets his chance to prove whether he still has value as a scout–and as a dad,” Lorenz told EW. “They’re having trouble communicating. They always have, and now they’ve come to a point in the relationship where it’s either going to change or it’s not. He needs a little help, and she decides it’s worth the effort.”
Johnny helps facilitate between Gus and his daughter, and of course develops an interest in her as well. According to EW, Gus is not pleased about their relationship, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg in this emotional baseball drama.
The movie will be in theaters on September 28.
