David Arquette is hoping that Courteney Cox will agree to joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, who will be turning 8 on Wednesday.
According to reports from TMZ, the 40-year-old actor finally filed legal documents citing “irreconcilable differences” in order to divorce Cox. In the documents, he did request child or spousal support. Turning these documents in was not an easy step for Arquette, who was married to Courteney for 13-years.
He signed them back in March; however, he could not bring himself to turn them in until last Friday. This was just one day prior to him flying to Israel to shoot his Travel Channel show, “Mile High.” On Monday, in Israel, Arquette had his bar mitzvah ceremony, which is typically celebrated by Judaic boys when they turn 13.
“He was very emotional, saying he was happy to be part of the chain of the Jewish people,” said Shmuel Rabinowitz, the rabbi of the Western Wall, who conducted the ceremony. “I’m very pleased to see a man who is returning to his roots.”
“I had my bar mitzvah today at the wall. Finally I’m a man,” Arquette posted to his twitter account.
