David Arquette And Oprah. David Arquette talks about working for sobriety on Oprah and is working on his battle for sobriety. The Scream 4 actor recently taped a very serious interview on the talk show.
The 39-year-old spoke about his longtime struggle with substance abuse. In addition, he went through a wild few months of partying in the fall after his separation from Courtney Cox. The interview is set to air on Thursday.
“I had my first drink of beer, I must have been four years old,” Arquette remembered. “I was down in the basement with my dad, and beer was there, and I just grabbed it and drank it, and I remember that, it’s one of my earliest memories”.
It wasn’t just a one-time mistake, either. Though he waited a few years, Arquette was a regular drinker from a very early age.
In December, Arquette spoke with George Lopez about his long history of partying, saying “I’ve always been wild.”
“I seriously started drinking probably when I was about twelve. Kids are doing a lot of stuff very early. I stole pot from my dad when I was eight years old,” Arquette stated.
He goes on to talk about the intervention that Cox and his sister, Patricia Arquette, held for him after a trip to Miami. Arquette entered rehab for treatment of “alcohol and other issues” on January 1, 2011, shortly after celebrating New Year’s Eve. He left rehab at the end of January after nearly a month of treatment.
