It’s looking more like Demi Lovato will soon be sitting next to Britney Spears on the X-Factor judge panel as Simon Cowell confirms that the former Disney star is currently “closing a deal” to join the singing talent show.
According to our friends at The Hollywood Reporter, citing a source, they say there are minimal chances that the deal with Demi could fall apart.
After the inaugural season in 2011 of the American version of the “X-Factor,” Cowell and the show’s other producers were not happy with the way it came across and decided to overhaul the show by parting ways with judges Paula Abdul, and Nicole Scherzinger as well as the shows British host Steve Jones.
Thus far Cowell has locked down Spears for one season in a $15 million deal. With all the judges needing to be in place for auditions starting at the end of the month, other possible names being floated around if a Devato deal falls through are, Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne.
At the age of seven Lovato got her start as a member of the cast on “Barney and Friends” alongside friend Selena Gomez. She went on to star in the Disney movie “Camp Rock” along with the Jonas Brothers and Disney series “Sonny with a Chance,” auditioning for, and receiving both parts on the same day.
As a solo musical artist, Lovato released her debut album “Don’t Forget” on September 23, 2008.
The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 selling 89,000 copies in the first week.
Her second album, “Here We Go Again” debuted at number-one in July of 2009 and her third, “Unbroken” debuted at number 4 in September of 2011.
It is reported that she is currently working on her fourth album.
