Elisabetta Canalis George Clooney – Elisabetta Canalis speaks candidly about ex-boyfriend George Clooney. The two dated for about 2 years but never before has the Italian television personality been more specific about the romance as she is now.
In a brand new interview cited by People magazine she revealed, “Not only is Clooney a gentleman when the cameras aren’t rolling, but he’s also been ‘like a father’ to her.”
“[He was] the person who valued my feminine side the most also one of the best people I have met from a charitable point of view,” the 33-year-old stunner says in the interview. “He has been a special for me, and very important, just as a father would be,” she adds. Asked to elaborate, she adds, “Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this up ’till now.”
In the same interview, the star also addresses one of the most circulated rumors about the reason she and Clooney broke up, namely that she was pressuring him to get married and have children.
That was never the case, she says: she does want to have children, but she never talked about it with him, which means he couldn’t have broken up with her because of it.
“George and I never spoke of marriage nor of having kids. I don’t put limits to the possibility of having them, but neither George nor I had ever envisaged having kids together,” she says.
In other words, his alleged aversion to marriage and fear of more serious commitment and her pressure to marry had nothing to do with the breakup.
“The end of the relationship was not caused by a marriage issue, but instead by our personal needs,” Canalis says.
On the same note, there’s no bitterness on her part for the way things ended, even though reports claimed at one point that she was “down in the dumps” and even sending him angry texts because he’d already started seeing someone else.
“George is a real gentleman even in his private life. I was very much respected both as a woman and partner,” Elisabetta says of her former lover.
