Elton John Caesars Palace Million Dollar Piano

Elton John is at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas playing on his red Million Dollar Piano named Blossom Dearie, which took Yamaha four years to build, and casino vice-president Jason Gastwirth believes the show could be extended again.

John started his three year run in Las Vegas on Wednesday with a show called “The Million Dollar Piano” at Caesar’s. The The five-time Grammy winner took the stage dressed in one of his typical flamboyant costumes, that reflected the “Colosseum” venue. His glittering silver cape revealed a black shimmering suit and golden shoes with a Roman themed stage that only the Palace can display.

The million dollar piano, named after Jazz artist Blossom Dearie, weighs 3200 pounds and is covered in 64 LED screens. It lights up with colors and scenes to reflect the song Elton is playing at that moment. “I think Blossom is pretty good, don’t you?” he asked, and the audience responded with a loud applause.

“I think it’s very possible, both on duration and number of shows,” Gastwirth said. “There’s been such a large appetite by his fans to come see the show.”

“It’s great to be back here at the Colosseum,” Elton told the Caesars crowd, joking that in the 2-1/2 years since he last performed on the stage, both he and singer Celine Dion who also played there had children. “Miracles happen here, I tell you,” John said.
