Eric Stonestreet hopes that the recent rumors about him, and Charlize Theron, will help him land a date with the actress. Stonestreet, who stars in the “Modern Family” series, took some time while at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards to discuss the rumors. He spoke with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on the red carpet.
“I’m offended that somebody thinks her taste is [that bad]. Do not insult my friend like that!” he said with a laugh when asked about Charlize.
“A few years ago it was Scarlett Johansson, then it was Mila Kunis, then Whoopi Goldberg, we were rumored to be dating for a while,” Stonestreet joked.
Stonestreet, who first meet Theron at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington D.C., isn’t playing coy about his hopes for the future.
“I’m hoping she sees the story and calls and says, ‘Maybe we should have coffee… Maybe we should grab a little food,’” Eric said of pal Charlize.
People reported that the “Modern Family” actor took home the first award of the night for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.
“Ty, Ed, Jesse, Max, Bill — I love you all. You’re amazing,” Stonestreet said in his acceptance speech.
Berry, 46, is engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez, 46, but that didn’t stop Stonestreet from having a little fun. “She was so cold to me this morning when she saw these rumors,” he said of the Monster’s Ball actress. “It was just quiet — fork and knife on the plate. Halle and I weren’t speaking at all. And I’m like, ‘Halle, listen! It’s just a rumor. It’s not a real.’”
