Estella Warren was formally charged after allegedly kicking a police officer who arrested her on suspicion of driving while drunk.
Los Angeles police stopped the Planet of the Apes actress in late May, as she tried to drive away after ramming her Toyota Prius into three parked cars, TMZ said.
The 32-year-old resisted arrest and kicked an officer before she was handcuffed and taken to a nearby police station. As she waited to be booked, she managed to slip out of her handcuffs and tried to flee through a back door.
“She was really hammered,” a law enforcement source told the celebrity website.
The Los Angeles District Attorney formally charged Warren with DUI, hit-and-run driving, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest - offenses which could yield two and a half years of jail time if she is convicted.
Warren avoided a felony escape charge because she was still waiting to be booked into the system when she tried to get away and therefore she did not technically commit the offense.
