Gay Superhero DC Comics Character Will ‘Come Out’ Proud

In an effort to please the gay and lesbian community DC Comics has decided to have one of its superhero characters ‘come out’ and that has started some controversy. Some fans don’t know what to think of DC comics announcement.

The announcement was made by co-publisher Dan DiDio at this past weekend’s Kapow Comic Convention in London.

DiDio said one of the prominent heros, who was introduced as straight, will now become “one of our most prominent gay characters.”

Previously, the company introduced a brand-new character to its Teen Titan’s comic line as gay.

At the time, the company said if it was going to have a gay character it wanted it to start out that way and not have one converted per say.

“One of the things we’re very focused on doing for these types of stories is rather than [change an existing] character, we want to make sure that this is the basis of who that character is right from the start,” Didio said in an interview with The Advocate last July.

Comic books and characters include, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Robin, Aquaman, Nightwing, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern and the Flash, to name a few. It was not revealed as too which character will yet come out, but rather it will soon be written into an upcoming storyline in one of the comics.
