Gayle King CBS This Morning – She’s the latest addition to a revamped “CBS This Morning” broadcast that premiered Monday. She credits her friend Oprah Winfrey for helping her make a career decision to switch networks. She will be the show’s new host during the 8am hour.
King also was offered a little encouragement from Winfrey before her debut, as Oprah tweeted, “@GayleKing ROCK STEADY this is your moment! CBS this Morning.”
King actually left Oprah’s OWN network where she hosted “The Gayle King Show” to take the CBS job and focus all her energy on it. There was a thought the move would cause friction between the two pals but it seems Oprah is not upset, as she also tweeted, “Morning tweeps..I’m up early to watch CBS morning news. Gayles debut. 4 25 years she watched my show while working out ,now I will.”
After running as the “The Early Show” for the last 12 years the CBS morning show continuously ran last to rivals the “Today” show on NBC and “Good Morning America”on ABC. It was announced the show would be revamped in November of 2011.
In a statement CBS said that the new show would, “redefine the morning television landscape.”
Joining Gayle King on the new “This Morning” show are, Charlie Rose from “60 Minutes” and Erica Hill, who was a hold over from the old morning show.
