After attending a concert last Friday night with two famous rappers, Gwyneth Paltrow was caught in the middle of a racial controversy after she tweeted the ‘N-word’ to more than one million followers on Twitter.
Paltrow had been attending the “Watch the Throne Tour” in Paris, France on Friday night and eventually joined the two rappers on stage. She ended up posting a picture of her on the stage with Jay-Z and Kanye with a caption that read, “Ni**as in paris for real.”
But the insuing controversy and backlash was an obvious misunderstanding by Paltrow followers that are not aware of the music by Jay-Z and West and the relationship between herself, her husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce.
First off the the reference to “Ni**as in prais for real,” is actually a play on words as one of Jay-Z and West’s song is titled “Ni**as in Paris” and they actually performed it an astonishing 11 times during the Friday night concert. Paltrow after so much negative feed back tried to explain the fact to her followers by later tweeting, “Hold up. It’s the title of the song!”
Paltrow was not trying to racially disrespect either West or Jay-Z over the comment, in fact the relationship between Paltrow and her husband and Jay-Z is so close that Paltrow’s kids call the rapper “Uncle Jay.”
Paltrow had also been attending the concert with Jay-Z’s wife Beyonce. She was also unapologetic to those who were hypersensitive to her comment without knowing the details.
