A biopic about Hugh Hefner is in the works to be written by Academy Award nominee Peter Morgan, who wrote “The Queen” and “Frost/Nixon.”
It looks as though the film will be produced by Jerry Weintraub and developed at Warner Bros.
Apparently, Morgan met with Hugh Hefner on Tuesday and following their meeting the Chief Creative Officer of Playboy Enterprises tweeted about it. “I had a good meeting today with screenwriter Peter Morgan discussing a film about my life,” Hefner tweeted.
This Hefner project, was originally developed by Imagine Entertainment; however, earlier this year it was switched over to Warners Brothers. There is already speculation buzzing around Hollywood as to who will be acting as Hefner, some of the names have included James Franco, 34, and Robert Downey Jr., 47.
Reportedly, Hef has stated that he and Downey, “talked about it and it is a very real possibility.” His most-recent films include Iron Man 2, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Avengers, and Iron Man 3. So, this role would be quite a switch from his action/adventure roles.
This is not Hefner’s first time attempting to release his incredible life story. There were already two documentaries made about Hef’s boisterous life in Playboy Enterprises’, “Hugh Hefner: Once Upon a Time,” made in 1992, and “Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel,” produced in 2010.
