Jada Pinkett Smith breaks down a previous comment made, which led people to believe she was in an open marriage.
Earlier in the month, the Hawthorne actress shocked many of her fans when she addressed rumors about her marriage to husband Will Smith.
“I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay,'” the 41-year-old actress told HuffPost Live’s Marc Lamont Hill on April 3. “Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I’m here as his partner, but he is his own man.”
She now feels that she needs to clarify her previous comment on HuffPost as people are getting the wrong idea.
On Sunday, Pinkett Smith took to her Facebook page and said she was amending her statement to say that their relationship is “a grown one” and that it did “NOT mean we have an open relationship.”
An excerpt of Pinkett Smith’s post is below:
Let me first say this, there are far more important things to talk about in regards to what is happening in the world than whether I have an open marriage or not. I am addressing this issue because a very important subject has been born from discussions about my statement that may be worthy of addressing.
The statement I made in regard to, ‘Will can do whatever he wants,’ has illuminated the need to discuss the relationship between trust and love and how they co-exist.”
