Country music artist Jake Owen proposes to his girlfriend at his alma mater. It all happened last Saturday night when he surprised his girlfriend, Lacey Buchanan, by proposing to her during his performance in the Citrus Bowl at Vero Beach High.
Jake Owen brought Lacey Buchanan on stage during his hit song, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You,” for what appeared to be a dance. However, he surprises her by getting down on one knee and proposing.
“You’re probably wondering where your ring is, right?” Referencing to the lyrics of the song, he added: “I just said I can’t buy you a big diamond ring or a big old house on the hill, but I promise you I’ll love you forever and ever and ever,” he said to her on the stage.
Owen went on with the rest of the song singing directly to his new fiancé, and upon finishing the song, they shared a hug and many kisses. Buchanan has made appearances in some of Owen’s music videos such as “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and “Eight Second Ride.”
“He was talking about how he’d thrown his hat up on the fifty-yard line [during graduation] and now he was here in front of friends and family, and it seemed like the most appropriate [venue],” one concertgoer told PEOPLE.
