Janet Hubert, the woman who played aunt Vivian Banks on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air TV show, does not like Will Smith and has called him an ‘a–hole’ on more than one occasion because she says he’s egotistic and made some negative comments about her when she left the series.
Last week, Will Smith and most of the cast members from Fresh Prince of Bel Air reunited for a charity event, except for one aunt who still carries a grudge. It’s really silly because this was about charity and not about aunt Vivian’s personal feelings towards the main character. Smith posted a photo from his iPhone to Facebook to show fans the event.
Hubert was absent from the photo because she’s protesting, or something like that, and still has ill-feelings when it comes to Smith.
“There will never be a reunion … as I will never do anything with an as*hole like Will Smith,” the actress told TMZ this weekend. “He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word.”
Janet was replaced on the show in 1994 by Daphne Reid when her contract expired. NBC could not reach a deal with the actress. She later released a memoir in 2010 and gave her side of the story.
She was only scheduled to work 10 weeks and was restricted by the contract from other TV appearances. She was unable to earn a living under the terms. Meanwhile, Smith and the other cast members were getting contract extensions and earning a lot of money.
Smith blasted her claims and she she left because she wanted to take over the show and was difficult to work with. Janet Hubert became hurt by that statement and has carried a grudge ever since. For her, no Fresh Prince of Bel Air is worth her time.
