Jennie Garth is letting everyone know her weight loss secret after losing more than 30 pounds since her break up from actor Peter Facinelli. She sports a new slim figure on the February cover of Health magazine.
How did she do it? Well, the 40-year-old “Beverly Hills, 90210” star avoided all fad diets and closely watched her weight daily.
“I weigh myself every morning. If I don’t, before you know it, I’ll be up 10 pounds. It creeps,” Garth explains. “This morning, it was up 2 pounds. That’s OK. But if it’s up 6 pounds? I need to make adjustments.”
Garth is very much against fad diets and believes that Atkins plan worked best for her.
“My biggest regret is putting my body through fad diets: Atkins, cleanses, the hCG diet,” she told the magazine. “I lost like 18 pounds, but it came right back. The worst was fasting with colonics for three or four days. It was the most horrifying experience ever!”
The Atkins plan is a low-carb diet with a program called hCG, which includes injections of human chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone found in the urine of pregnant women.
However, to maximize the benefit of this plan she also exercises regularly and even wears her gym clothes while taking her three daughters to school. She doesn’t believe that a diet plan will work unless there’s exercise involved. In addition, she goes hiking with their dog twice a week.
Garth also admits that a successful weight loss also comes with taking better care of herself.
