Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez talks about her first fight as a judge on American Idol as tensions were already high from her summer-long holdout.
The Idol judges are currently out searching for new talent for the upcoming season. Lopez revealed to Ryan Seacrest that they have already had their first spat.
“Me and Randy and Steve got into our first fight. I got really, really upset,” Lopez, 42, told Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show Friday.
The trouble came when Lopez thought, after hearing a female contestant audition, that she was “amazing.” However, the very often liberal judging Steven Tyler, thought otherwise, and refused to vote for the contestant to go through to Hollywood. Seacrest confirmed that the disagreement visibly riled Jennifer.
When Jackson and Tyler disagreed, Lopez said, “Are you guys crazy?” She literally thought she was being Punk’d. “How can we let this girl go? She had a great voice,” she asked.
“I was surprised because I was ready to vote,” Lopez said, adding with a laugh, “Sometimes the days get kinda long.”
The girl then started a second song and both Tyler and Jackson quickly nixed her hopes of making it further by saying no. “I was upset. When I believe in something … I knew this girl deserves the chance.” Lopez said.
All in all, though, Lopez says her second season is “going really great,” but does admit: “The kids, we’re being really tough on them.”
