Jennifer Lopez turned heads at the Oscars as she presented the costume design award to The Artist designer Mark Bridges. You could actually see a slice of shiny double stick wardrobe tape straining between her breasts and her low-cut gown as she spoke onstage.
However, it all depends on what you think you saw with Jennifer Lopez, because the eyes can play tricks.
But it’s worth noting that some television stations actually blurred the possibly offending area during their reports of the Oscar evening. Even so, don’t try to convince the star’s stylist, Mariel Haenn, that anything untoward was actually seen.
“The dress fit perfectly to every inch,” she said Monday. “While the dress did give the illusion of sheerness, joke’s on everyone who wishes they saw something!”
So any confusion is all in our dirty little collective minds? She went on to explain that Lopez’s custom Zuhair Murad gown had special built-in cups that prevented any “slips.”
Lopez was clearly unfazed by the nip-slip rumors. And her style statement got even more provocative at the post parties. The American Idol judge rocked another Murad gown — with an even deeper V-neck, if such a thing is possible — for the annual post-Oscars Vanity Fair bash. And if there was a gown indiscretion inside the star-studded party, it’s doubtful anyone is going to mention it.
This isn’t the first time Lopez has used provocative fashion to get publicity. Remember the sheer green Versace gown she wore to the 2000 Grammys when she was P. Diddy’s date? That little number was the dress that put her on the fashion map. She also wore a very revealing low-cut number to the VH1 Fashion Awards in 1999.
