Joe Simpson has formally pleaded “no contest” to his DUI stemming from his arrest last summer after his divorce amid rumors that he is gay.
Attorney Shawn Holley was sent into court ahead of a scheduled court appearance to represent Simpson and to formally plead no contest to the DUI charge.
As part of the plea, Simpson will be required to attend a three month alcohol education class, pay a hefty fine, and will remain on informal probation for the next three years.
Simpson wasn’t in the Van Nuys courtroom for the proceedings.
As previously reported, Simpson was arrested on August 4, after being pulled over by cops on Ventura Blvd. He was taken to the Valley Jail in Van Nuys and was released the following morning at 9:40 a.m.
Simpson’s bail was set at $5,000.
Tina Simpson filed for divorce from Joe in September amid allegations that her husband was gay. The couple had been married for 34 years.
