Jon Gosselin has been added to the list of reality stars who don’t pay their taxes after the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue placed a $39,000 lien on him for revenue he made in 2009, including penalties.

While this is a state income tax lien, it’s unknown whether the “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” star owes any money to the Internal Revenue Service.

Following his divorce from Kate, Gosslin made big bucks on the reality TV and gossip interview circuit while Kate went on to star in a subsequent series — Kate Plus Eight — without him.

It was announced in a 2009 episode of the show that Jon and Kate were separating, and that divorce proceedings had begun. Gosselin then began looking for a new apartment in New York City, reportedly visiting Donald Trump-owned Trump Place in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Gosselin stated that it was his wife who wanted the divorce, while Kate stated that “Jon’s activities” left her with “no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect” herself and the children. Jon released a statement in response, noting that his wife was the first to make a legal move, and speaking of his continuing love for his children. His lawyer was celebrity lawyer Mark Heller.

Later on, speculation rose that Gosselin’s relationship with Hailey Glassman, the daughter of Kate’s plastic surgeon, was the cause for the divorce, but Glassman denied the speculation, saying that her relationship with the TLC reality star began only after the couple had been separated for months.

On October 1, 2009, Gosselin filed a legal action against TLC to prevent the show from resuming and would consider the entry of production crews into the family home as criminal trespassing.

In addition, he filed paperwork seeking to stall the divorce for 90 days, saying, “I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated … I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon.” Among the terms of the divorce was a child support order for $22,000 a month.

Gosselin eventually had to get a job as a roofer, but quit. He’s had several jobs since then and has tried to get back with Kate on multiple occasions. Kate has always stated that the two will never become a couple again.
