On Tuesday night, Jon Stewart pulled out a plastic gun, on “The Daily Show,” in an effort to make a point about gun control.

The political satirist was making fun of all the gun-control discussions that have been going on since the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

Stewart and his late night satirical television program has been off of the air since before the shooting, but returned this week.

After media correspondents Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and many others were shown alerting Americans about the dangers of living in the United States Jon Stewart pulled out a plastic gun.

“I’m not sure what happened. I blacked out in the middle of that and woke up with an AK in my hands, or whatever this is,” Stewart joked. “I’m sure I’ll get letters about what this really is — which is plastic is what it really is.”

Next, Stewart ran clips of NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre discussing how America should have a national database of mentally ill citizens and Mike Huckabee saying, “Ultimately we don’t have a crime problem, or a gun problem, or even violence problem. What we have is a sin problem.”

“We can dance around the issue all we want. We can blame movies, or video games, or the mentally ill, or God,” Stewart said after the clips played. “It’s a complex problem, and all solutions have to be on the table. But it is time we talk about guns.”
