Justin Bieber has admitted that he has a thing for wearing women’s jeans, which is something he has in common with his teenage girl fans. Is the teen idol a cross dresser? He did say that he doesn’t let the gender of clothes dictate what he wears.
“I’ve worn women’s jeans before because they fit me,” Bieber told Life and Style magazine while attending the Dolce and Gabbana’s Fashion’s Night Out event at New York Fashion Week. “It’s not a trend. It’s just, whatever works, works,” he added.
Maybe Bieber is cutting to the chase. One trend unveils that more men are wearing the so called “skinny jeans,” in where in the same manner as women, they try to squeeze themselves into the tight-fitting pants.
According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, straight men are attracted to women’s jeans for the better choice of cuts, edgier styles, and better fits.
According to Karl Plewka, stylist and contributing editor to Vogue and Interview magazine, it’s all about looking more “original, rock n’ roll, and sexy.”
Cross dressing has existed throughout much of recorded history, even though Justin doesn’t consider himself being one. There are many examples in Greek, Norse, and Hindu mythology. A reasonable number of historical figures are known to have dressed to varying degrees and for a variety of reasons.
There is a rich history of cross dressing found in folklore, literature, theater, and music.
Recently, the teen idol had to defend Kanye West for wearing a women’s sweater. “It wasn’t so he’d look like a woman in a sweater,” Bieber said. “It was just a regular sweater that happened to be a woman’s.”
