The Elizabeth Taylor jewelry collection raised $137 million dollars this week at auction and one buyer was fan Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian, who has admitted to being a big fan of Taylor’s and wants to be just like her, secured three bracelets made of jade and diamonds out of the collection for $64,900.
Kim went above and beyond to make sure she got a piece of Elizabeth’s legacy as the bracelet’s were initially expected to only bring in $8,000.
The reality star and model once told Hollywood legendary actress how she looked up to her and wanted to follow in her footsteps, but was trailing behind in husbands and diamonds.
In the March 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Kardashian got to interview Taylor and she told her:
“I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands. For me, life happened, just as it does for anyone else. I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course I am the temporary custodian of some incredible and beautiful things.”
Kim recently told Forbes:
“If you have a piece of jade, the energy goes into the piece and you absorb the energy,” Kardashian said. “So I can feel Elizabeth in the piece.”
“Elizabeth Taylor is iconic,” Kardashian added. “She is my idol and my icon.”
It’s really no surprise that Kim Kardashian was among the throngs of people vying for a piece of history. Bear in mind she was one of the last to interview the Cleopatra star before she died this year from congestive heart failure.
Perhaps Elizabeth Taylor said it best when she said, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” Do you believe a Kardashian-Taylor connection has been established from the jade and diamond bracelets?
