Kelly Rowland might soon reconcile with her dad after revealing that he hopes the singer will come back into his life through prayer. Christopher Lovett has not seen his daughter in over a decade after being separated from his future Destiny’s Child.
The mother, Doris, left him because of his explosive temper, but now the recovering alcoholic is wants to have a relationship with her “before it’s too late” because he’s aging.
“So many previous years have passed and I’m getting old,” he told Star magazine, adding, “I just pray she comes back into my life before it’s too late.”
Christopher had an alcohol problem when Kelly was young and wasn’t able to control his temper, shouting at his wife in front of their child, but is hoping he can make amends for his past mistakes.
“I couldn’t control it. I hoped I could make it up to her. But I’m still waiting for that day,” the 67-year-old said. He claims he has been trying to get in touch with the 32-year-old singer, who was catapulted to worldwide fame when she joined the Beyonce Knowles’ girl group alongside Michelle Williams, for years now, but with no success.
“Whenever [Destiny's Child] was on the cover of a magazine, I would call and beg them to tell her I was looking for her,” he stated. Christopher insists he just wants Kelly to know that he loves her with “all my heart” and always has, despite their estrangement. Kelly has previously spoken about being curious to meet her dad again and would be interested in seeing him.
“I do have a desire to speak to him. But I have to be ready when I make that decision, and I don’t want to hurry myself. I’ve been without him for more than 20 years,” she said in 2011.
