Kid Rock Sheryl Crow. Kid Rock is taking Sheryl Crow on the road this summer as a special tour guest, with an album to follow. The duo will play 27 shows together starting July 2 in Cincinnati and finishing September 3 in Houston.

“We’ve been talking about doing something like this for a long time,” Kid Rock tells Billboard.com. “You talk about things, and you never know if it’s going to come to light, but we’ve always wanted to tour together.”

The amphitheater trek marks the second leg of Kid Rock’s “Born Free” tour, named after his current album. He reunited with Crow on the new single “Collide.”

Crow adds, “Any day, any hour of the day or night, if (Kid Rock) calls me I’m totally there. I’m such a huge fan of his, and I love the guy. He’s a great songwriter, and I feel like our collaboration together is always easy and it just…works.”

Kid Rock says the two will definitely join forces during the dates, and probably for more than just “Picture” and “Collide” (whose recorded version features Bob Seger on piano). The two also performed Free’s “All Right Now” at Kid Rock’s 40th birthday concert in January at Detroit’s Ford Field.

Meanwhile, Rock adds that he and Crow “have been wanting to do a live record together, forever. If we do our hits — ‘Picture’ and, if the clouds align and it becomes (a hit), ‘Collide’ — and we do some fun covers we’ve been doing throughout the years and throw them on an album, that’ll be fun for people to hear.”

Crow, meanwhile, starts a U.S. headlining tour May 8 in Rochester, Minn. It runs through June 30.
